FusionWERX is a first-of-its-kind commercial neutron irradiation facility built to accelerate the development of advanced nuclear technologies.
By providing dedicated access to fast fusion neutrons and integrated experimental infrastructure, FusionWERX enables industry, government, and academia to rapidly test, qualify, and iterate new materials, components, and nuclear systems.
Awarded $10 Million Grant from Washington State to Develop FusionWERX Neutron Factory
FusionWERX is a commercial neutron irradiation facility designed to accelerate the development of advanced nuclear technologies and materials. Built for customer test campaigns, FusionWERX provides dedicated access to fast fusion neutrons, continuous tritium fuel recycling for sustained neutron output, and full-service experimental support—from irradiation through post-test analysis.
Get StartedFusionWERX operates the way a commercial wind tunnel does: you bring the test article, we bring everything else. Customers bring components, materials, and experiments. Avalanche provides the neutron sources, the licensed facility, the tritium handling, the hot cells, the diagnostics, the trained staff, and we even clean up after you. You leave with validated data inside a flexible intellectual property environment.
Your results stay yours. The model works because the hard parts are shared. Often a single fusion company cannot justify building a licensed tritium facility and high-flux neutron sources just to test its own components. By operating one facility for the whole industry —private companies, universities, national laboratories, and public-private consortia—FusionWERX turns a years-long infrastructure problem into a scheduled test campaign: book a campaign, run your test, get your data, iterate.

As we scale our fusion technology toward power production, FusionWERX will scale with it. With even more capacity, we’ll be able to offer increasingly fusion-relevant neutron testing for materials, components, and integrated systems.
This expanded capability will open the door to testing that has historically been difficult to access—giving researchers and industry a new environment to develop and qualify technologies for the future of fusion.
Every milestone on our path to power becomes a new capability for FusionWERX.
We generate high-energy neutrons, essential for advanced materials testing, space science, and defense applications.
